St. Pauls London

Another Day

“Sorry, I’m late, though they do say: if you’re not late, you’re not important! HAHAHAHAHA.
Still,  I do have 25 minutes left to speak, though that’s probably 15 minutes more than I actually need. HAHAHAHAH”

Following their unamusing jokes, they continue to talk about how the company is doing so well, how positive things are. They slide in how much staff are costing them but swiftly then inform the staff, they will act upon the recent employee satisfaction survey – waffle.

This is the gist of a Townhall meeting in any corporation.

I had to stand through one today, listening to how the company was earning billions and how they are competing so defiantly against competitors.

Indeed, they did also boast their growth, but in the same breath admit expenditures had gone up too, because of staffing levels. Staff aren’t an expense. Without staff. you wouldn’t have a business. It’s laughable.

When they finally stop waffling, you’d think everyone in the stifling hot meeting room would be on the same page, and keep their mouth shut or engage in an agreeable murmur to conclude the meeting… but they’re not. There is always one or two career aspiring individuals, of whom I am trying not to label boot kissers, as they are only doing what they deem right to make themselves happy, although to everyone else, all they are really doing is extending this already tedious meeting longer than we should have endured.

I managed to escape without saying anything contradictory, though it was but a whisper away.

Only to find my trains canceled.

I also heard some extremely sad news too, that a dear friend’s little sister had passed away earlier this week, only being 24 years of age. This should have slapped me hard across the face and shouted at me,

“Stop complaining.”

Although… it only conjured one question.

Why am I working a 9-6 job, instead of enjoying myself and the time I have with people whom I love?

I have a couple of hours to chill once I get home until I sleep and return to the grind. Oh and we’ve been given weekends as a sign of freedom too.

Days like today are a struggle for me. I desire the opportunity to be the master of my own time and decisions. I’ll probably torment myself further now on Youtube, watching others explore the world for me.

“Now, does anyone have any questions?”
